Namasdrake |This New Fitness Trend Is All About Loving Yoga…. And Drake

"Just hold on, we're going om..."

We’re all for novelty workout classes. At Mpora we’ve tried classes with added surfboards, gin, taxidermy… you name it, there’s a workout based on it. In the days of social media and instabragging, no workout is complete without a good gimmick to post online.

Going from the good (vinyasa and craft ale, hello!) to the bad (Voga, we’re looking at you) it seems that yoga is the sport that has been taken over more than any other by the fitness trendies.

The latest on their list? Namasdrake, a Drake themed yoga class totally based around “fully realising your inner Drakeness.”

The classes, which are currently based in LA, are one hour workouts, to the sounds of the megastar’s sensitive, introspective rap and r&b.

While we’re slightly disappointed to find out that man himself is not leading these classes, there seems to be enough Drake love present to make up for that fact.

The intensity of the vinyasa yoga class moves with the tempo of the Drake soundtrack, with a piano rendition of ‘Just hold on, we’re going home’ played through the savasana and bringing the class to a close.

“[Drake is] so sensitive,” explains founder Paul Schneider, “but at the same time has these really hard hip-hop songs…it’s like the yin and yang of yoga.”

The classes are $23 per session and held at well known clubbing spot  Resident.

Looks like we might all be getting our downward dog on to Hotline Bling in the near future….
