We were first introduced to DPS’ premium Pagoda construction after checking out the DPS Pagoda Tour 106 C2. When this unique construction was applied to a touring ski, it created an exceptionally lightweight build with equally impressive levels of power and dampening. Now for winter 2022, we’ve got our mitts on the new Pagoda 100 RP.
It’s pretty similar to the Pagoda Tour of last year, but DPS has gone and juiced the build up to the eyeballs to create an extremely powerful all-mountain ski.
This Pagoda 100 RP sits at the heart of DPS’ Pagoda range of skis (which, by the way, ranges from 94 all the way up to 124 mm), offering a shape that brings bucket loads of versatility across the mountain. But let’s dive into the main reason that leaves us drooling over many DPS skis: the build.
DPS Pagoda 100 RP Build
DPS’ Pagoda construction puts the woodcore at the heart of its build. Typical ski builds utilise a single wooden core with multiple strips of wood laminated together vertically to create a single layer core. This, however, isn’t the case with Pagoda. By adding a second wooden layer (that’s been laminated horizontally) that sits on top of the vertically laminated core, DPS have have been able to utilise the disparate densities of the wood species to vastly improve the damping of the ski while retaining the lively energy of the carbon fibre.
