Founded by engineer Trus Brataas and pro skier Jon Olsson, it’s fair to say that Db (previously known as ‘Douchebags’ – good name change, in our opinion) knows a thing or two about making well-designed ski luggage. They started with their now classic Snowroller pack, but have recently been applying their tried-and-tested formula to other luggage categories, such as this suitcase / backpack crossover – The Støm 30L.
Build
Copying the signature Db Snowroller bags, the Strøm features a neat ‘Rib Cage’ construction as a way to provide protection for your valuable items while also keeping weight to a minimum.
The Rib Cage is made up of strong and lightweight ABS ribs (which are all pre-moulded in a three-stage foldable structure). They essentially create a scenario where less padding is being used, but with higher levels of all-round protection. We’ve been using a range of Db luggage and packs over the past few years and can get behind this clever way of providing protection to all your valuables.
Features
So that’s the build out the way, but what’s going on the outside of the pack? Well, aside from the Hook Up system (more on that stuff later), there’s not actually too many exciting things happening on the exterior, which, in our opinion, is a good thing. This streamlined design will do well in boosting the durability of the pack, with less stuff to snag and break, and all that.
