Colourful, crazy and a whole heap of fun, Run or Dye is a 5k race with a difference. Find out what all the fuss is about.
What Is It?
It’s one big technicoloured running love-in, innit.
Branding itself as ‘the world’s most colourful 5k’, Run or Dye is a series of runs taking place up and down the UK. The big selling point? You get to splatter your mates in multi-coloured powder paint!
There’s a big Dye Festival at the finish line, basically an excuse to lob even more paint
It’s the perfect canvas for some impressive Instagram pics (not that we’re shallow or anything), and there’s a big ol’ Dye Festival at the finish line too – basically an excuse to lob even more paint. Brilliant!
How Fit Do I Need To Be?
Not at all. The emphasis here is on fun, the runs are untimed and you’re encouraged to walk, dance and sing your way round the course too. Families are encouraged, and children under six go for free.
In fact, serious runners might want to give it a miss – this is not one for the PB hunters.
Any Tips?
Yes, wear white! The colour shows up much better. The dye’s supposed to be washable, but we’d suggest you leave the Prada at home.
What Do People Say About It?
“I ran and I dyed! Who knew running could be SO much fun! #runordyeuk” @peggiesoo, via Twitter
“I didn’t quite see the attraction until I did it myself. There’s a strange cathartic release you get from this. It was like I’m 30 going on 13!” Elle Linton. Personal trainer and fitness blogger.
How Do I Sign Up?
Run or Dye is taking place at 17 venues across the UK this year with events running from April to early October. Prices vary at different venues, but you can expect to pay around £25-£30 per person.
Your entry fee includes a T-shirt, coloured bracelets, dye packs and transfer tattoos (yes!).
