This glass bridge in China is a masterclass in how to replace a rickety wooden bridge with something even more terrifying. It’s located in the Shiniuzhai Geopark in Hunan, it’s 300 metres across and a heart-stopping 180 metres above the ground. Those with a fear of height should look away now.

The bridge, previously made of wood, connects the peaks of Stone Buddha Mountain. Reports state that the new floor, which took 11 engineers 12 days to add, is 25 times stronger than the glass you have in your windows at home. But even with that vaguely reassuring detail hanging around, the glass-bottom bridge has already become known as the “hero bridge” (in reference to the brave souls who have crossed it).
