Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or in Stockport, you’ll have heard by now that British snowboarder Billy Morgan has just ripped up the rulebook and landed the world’s first ever quadruple cork 1800 flip (trans. four flips, five spins, and 97% of the internet melted).
As such, our Billy has become somewhat of a household name over night, with everybody from the smallest snow blogs to broadsheets, the BBC and Sky talking about it.
But how well do you really know Billy Morgan? We asked him to tell us five things you probably never knew about the man who’s sitting on top of the snowboarding world right now.
1) Skiing?
“I’m a skier at heart, Whenever I hang out with Paddy Graham, I become a skier – we swap over and have a lot of fun.”
(Looking at is, has anybody ever seen Billy and Paddy in the same room?)
2) Top Gear
“I’m a motorbike fiend. I jump at any opportunity to rag around on a bike. I’m very very jealous that [fellow team GB snowboarder] Aimee Fuller has just blagged a KTM. It makes me want to vomit!”
3) He Really Likes Bikes
“When I was in LA, I rented a Harley Davidson for the day and blazed around. We had to be back to hit the jump, and we were just out all day and completely missed practice.”
4) But Bikes Don’t Always Like Him
“I ripped my ball sack open on a motocross bike and had 16 stitches in it.”
5) More balls
“When I’m not snowboarding, if I can’t go and skate, I like to play table tennis.”
