British snowboarder and physics destroyer Billy Morgan has become the first person in the world to land the much coveted Quad Cork.
If that doesn’t make any sense to you, it’s basically a trick where our Bill gets inverted four times while in the air, his head dipping below where his hip is.
Not only that, he was spinning 1800 degrees while doing it – that’s a full five complete rotations. Madness.
It’s the first time anybody has ever managed the trick, although plenty have been trying pretty much ever since Norwegian Torstein Horgmo was credited with landing the first triple back in 2010.
So, what does this mean for snowboarding? And What does it mean for British snowboarding? Well, it looks like only one other person in the world is close to our Bill on the quad cork front, 15 year old American ripper Marcus Kleveland.
However, no doubt every competition rider will be rushing to get this on lock for when the 2015/16 snow starts to fall. It’s kind of nice that a Brit is already ahead of the game though, isn’t it.
Furthermore, with talk of a Big Air style event at the 2018 Winter Olympics, the chances of British medals goes up, which in turn leads to greater funding for UK snowboarding, and that can only be a good thing.
