The one thing tourists are constantly reminded of if they drive their own cars into nature reserves in South Africa is “whatever happens stay in your car”.

There are a lot of animals in the African bush that can kill you, but as long as you’re behind metal doors and solid windows, you’ll be safe… right?

Well, that’s what this family thought, until a lioness approached their car… and opened the door with her teeth!

The quick reactions of the woman filming stopped things from escalating further. But no wonder she sounds amazed. As Joshua Sutherland, the woman’s brother who uploaded the video, said: “Did you know lions could open car doors?”
