There are some truly inspirational stories out there in the world of action sports, and that of Bruce Cook is one of the best.
On January 3 2014, while attempting the first ever double front flip on a motorcycle in a live Nitro Circus show in Canada, a horrible accident left Cook paralysed from the waist down.
Since that fateful day at the start of last year, Bruce has been recovering and re-adjusting to life. He made the ultimate return recently though, not only getting back on the motorbike at a Nitro Circus Live show, but becoming the first paraplegic person to nail a backflip on a motorcycle.
WOW! Talk about emotion! Excitement, adrenaline, nerves, etc tonight at Nitro Circus Toronto. I just landed my first backflip in a show since my accident which happened to be just down the road from here. This one goes out to all of my family, friends, supporters, and fans that have been with me every ‘step’ of the way – I couldn’t have done it without your positive vibes and encouragement! Thank you everyone – feeling relieved! #smileforBC #livelikeroner

The story is a truly stunning one. Inspiring isn’t even a strong enough word for Bruce, and we can’t wait until Nitro Circus drop the full footage of his amazing backflip.
We interviewed paraplegic mountain biker Martyn Ashton recently about his journey to get back on the bike, and it’s amazing to see more paraplegic athletes continuing to ride in their respective fields.
After Ryan Williams nailed the first ever triple front flip on a BMX just a couple of weeks ago, it’s sure been a big few weeks for Nitro Circus, and they’ve got their next film, Travis Pastrana’s Action Figures dropping this month too. We can’t wait to see the next inspiring stunt that the team have got up their sleeves.
