Watch the Moment Mark Cavendish Brutally Crashed Out of the Tour of Britain

Manx rider withdraws one stage after an almost-brawl with a fellow rider...

Fan footage has emerged of the brutal crash that forced Mark Cavendish to withdraw from the Tour of Britain over the weekend.

The incident took place on the testing stage six of the Aviva tour, starting in Stoke-on-Trent, and though Cavendish was able to get back on the saddle and ride on at the time, he later had to abandon the race.

The Manx rider has had a tough time of sorts on the Tour of Britain, having also crashed out on stage five of the race after an incident involving Spanish rider Gorka Izagirre, which left Cavendish rather unhappy…

It’s not all sorrow for the Brit though, as it was announced on Friday that he has been selected to ride for Great Britain in the 2015 World Championships road race later this month, and the talk is that he is one of the nominated leaders for Team GB.

The extend of Cav’s injuries remains unclear at this point, but with his wife – who apparently refers to Mark as “the boy” – tweeting that it could’ve been a lot worse, and Mark tweeting that there weren’t any breaks or dislocations, we’re hoping to see him back on the bike in no time at all.
