There’s literally nothing more miserable than waking up after a long day’s running to find yourself shivering in your tent because your new sleeping bag isn’t up to doing the job required of it. Fortunately for buyers of the Mountain Raid 1.6 by OMM, this particularly grim scenario is never really on the cards.
Like everything designed by OMM, this is designed for use on the Original Mountain Marathon (the events that the brand is named for) and so is super lightweight. However just because it’s easy to carry and packs down small doesn’t mean it can’t pack a punch when it comes to warmth. Although you might want something bulkier if you were snow-camping in the Siberian winter, this is more than enough to handle summer – and even autumn – temperatures in the UK.

The synthetic insulation on this thing is PrimaLoft Gold; which has one of the best warmth-to-weight ratios on the market. Each panel’s weight of fill has been carefully considered by the design team, resulting in a technically superb and well thought-out sleeping bag that maximises warmth in the places where it’s needed most.
Insulation in the Mountain Raid’s base sheet is 60g, while the topsheet and footbox contain a toasty 100g; making chilly feet a thing of the past. The construction of the bag maximises insulative value and eliminates cold spots with a loose laid outer shell and an inner that’s stitched through to the insulation.
The fabric has had DWR (durable water repellent) treatment, meaning users have additional protection from moisture. This treatment means the Mountain Raid 1.6 also has extra stain resistance. Useful if you’re clumping around your tent in muddy trail running gear.
