The summit was a success, tough but everyone returned safe. Now it’s time to kick back at base camp and relax with a nice hoppy beer and some good food with good friends. Out the back of the camper comes the Primus Onja Stove, by a long way the most handsome outdoor stove ever built.
Outdoor cooking, especially at basecamp or when you’re travelling in a van is no longer a study in freeze dried food. If anything, on the road or in basecamp you have even more time to spend creating wonderful food than you would in the busy world back home. Whether it’s frying up some freshly caught mackerel or enlivening a risotto with some foraged herbs, or carefully selected woodland mushrooms, cooking and eating outdoors is almost always a delight.
Swedish stove brand Primus have been making fuel-efficient outdoor cooking equipment since the 1890s, and they’re bloody good at it. Two of their items have made it into the Outdoor 100 Winter Edition, and while that might seem excessive, it would be impossible to leave this new beauty out.
“It’s a really neatly made bit of kit which proves that outdoor equipment can be functional and sleekly designed.”
