Aaron Gwin Just Won The Downhill World Cup WITHOUT A CHAIN. Here’s The Footage…

Some are calling this the greatest World Cup run of all time... Do you agree?

American downhill superstar Aaron Gwin made mountain biking history once again last weekend as he raced to a 0.045 second victory in Leogang, Austria… without a chain on his bike.

Yes, you read that right. And no, it doesn’t make much sense. Connor Fearon was sitting primed in the hot seat having just set a time of 3:34:399 when first qualifier Gwin kicked off his run by snapping his chain with his first pedal stroke.

Seeing as Leogang is actually a bit of a pedally course at times, we can only assume that after that point, Fearon thought he had the win in the bag. But no, Gwin was just down at split one, then kept going, then kept going, then surely no- surely nooooo- tables were flipped and beers spilled around the world.

Many of you will remember when the downhill world erupted last year after Neko Mullaly took fourth in the World Champs in Hafjell, Norway without a chain either…

…so we’re expecting you to go even crazier from Aaron Gwin, or, as he will now be known, the wonderful (chainless) Wizard of Aus-tria!
