It’s been a season of shocks and surprises, heartbreaks, horrors and joy and success in the 2015 UCI downhill mountain biking world cup. All has been said and done now though, all courses ridden, bails had, finish lines crossed and points tallied up.

It’ll come as no surprise to anyone that the man on top at the very end was American 28-year-old Aaron Gwin.

Aaron has regularly been fastest throughout the season, and even won without a chain earlier in the year, which arguably should’ve guaranteed him an automatic overall win on the spot anyway.

It’s safe to say that the Specialized rider earned his win, and it’s also safe to say that he’s now one of the greatest riders ever – the guy has literally won 41.1 percent of downhill races in the past five years. Let that sink in for a second.

You can check out the highlights from Italy above, and here’s what Aaron had to say after the race when he caught up with our friends over at Dirt.
