DirtTV Danny Hart Interview 2014

Join DirtTV as they catch up with top downhill MTB professional Danny Hart as he prepares for his first season riding for MS Mondrake. Having been with Giant, his previous team, since joining as an 18 year old in 2010, Danny has not taken the move lightly, but he’s confident in his decision and immensely excited to compete on a fresh bike with a new supporting team. Ever the gentleman, Danny is also keen to acknowledge Giant’s enormous contribution towards his success thus far, and thankful for the supportive manner in which they have handled his transition.

Danny took the downhill world quite literally by storm at the Downhill World Championships in 2011 with a sensational run on a rain-soaked day in Champery. Despite the wet conditions which defeated many more experienced riders, Danny put in a fearless performance which surpassed his nearest competitor by an amazing 11 seconds. The other riders might have taken some small comfort from the knowledge that Redcar-born Danny should be used to racing in all weathers – in  2007 he won the youth national championship at Rheola, Wales, in conditions he himself described as ‘really terrible’.

Since his World Cup win, Danny has come within a mere 2.076 seconds of a second victory at the event, so hopefully his new partnership with MS Mondrake will provide the extra edge he needs to clinch it. Whatever happens, he’s certain to continue excelling in the sport in his inimitable calm yet uncompromising style, and he might be the only rider on the circuit hoping for rain.
