It’s no secret that most mountain bikers, and indeed cyclists of all discipine, care a whole lot more about their bikes than they do about themselves.
This simple fact can be seen in the way that riders spend longer washing their bikes than they do themselves when the riding is muddy, and in the way that they’ll always check if their bike is alright before they tend to any injuries of their own after a crash.
Ask any true cyclist whether he’d prefer a broken wrist or a broken frame and they’ll almost definitely opt for the former, which is why we feel so much sorrow for the poor chap in the video above, who saw his Norco Truax frame snapped in half after colliding with a tree.
It must take a hard hit to tear a top tube away in such horrific fashion, and judging by the GoPro footage, this was quite some hit indeed. Luckily, the rider was alright afterwards, but it’ll have been a sad few days that followed as he had to take away the components and put his Norco to rest.
PS. We don’t know idea why he’s topless either. Answers on a postcard.
