Tribal Riding
When mountain biking first started in the UK there were two types of riders; roadies who had just swapped skinny tyres for fat and everyone else who thought mountain biking looked cool.
In those days, no matter which side you came from, everyone rode the same type of bike – a mountain bike. Back then, there was no full suspension, single speeds, fat bikes, enduro machines, trials bikes, dirt jumpers, whatever.
There are plenty different kind of mountain bikes and plenty different kinds of mountain biker…
We all rode around on rigid, skinny steel-tubed bikes. And on those bikes we would do everything.
The human spirit of invention soon intervened though, and as a result, diversification began. Now we have plenty different types of mountain bikes and mountain bikers, and subsequently, plenty tribes that have sprung up within the sport… Which one do you belong to?
