Want To Get Paid For Your Action Sports Edits? Google Are Planning to Make It Easier…

This new Google scheme will pay filmers for their YouTube videos

Finally, you can now get paid for your edits.

For years, people have been uploading their action sports edits to YouTube for free. Popular videos may receive a small cut from adverts linked to their vids, but most people will never see this money. Even if they do, it’s hardly enough to quit the nine-to-five.

Now, this is set to change. Google have announced that uploaders will soon be able to add a facility to accept donations from viewers. It’s said that when a video has been viewed, an icon will appear on screen allowing viewers to make donations. The funds can then be accessed through Google Wallet.

“before long you could be a professional filmer. Well, sort of.”

Initially, it will only be available to users in Australia, Japan, Mexico, and the US. However, there is talk of rolling it out to other nations, including the UK, if the initial trials are a success.

Google will take a cut of all money donated – the amount changes depending on where you are in the world – but generally said to be around five percent.

Whether or not anyone will be able to make any real money out of it is unclear. We’d imagine it won’t amount to much more than what people currently earn from adverts. But in theory at least, you could be calling yourself a professional filmer before long. Well, sort of.
