Well, research company YouGov conducted polls across the country in a whole area of topics. They worked out what makes up a typical skiier and snowboarder – from the clothes they wear to the food they eat and TV programmes they watch.
The results were somewhat…. surprising.
Starting with your typical British freestyle skiier, according to a YouGov poll of a massive 143 people…
And this is a typical British snowboarder, after collecting data from 623 people…

Skiiers like knitting and snowboarders have a seriously addiction to…. thai red chicken curry?
PERSONALITY
Relaxed, warm, hyperactive… It’s got to be a skiier. Of course. Snowboarders meanwhile are risk takers (not bad), caring (we’ll take that) and control-freaky (err….).
BRANDS THEY’RE INTO
Now here is where it get really odd. Apparently skiers really love the kids channel CITV and shop primarily at H. Samuel jewellery store and Louis Vuitton, while male snowboarders wear…. Agent Provocateur, seconded by Jack Wills?!
FILMS, TV & CELEBRITY FAVOURITES
Skiers have had a real passion for the Clangers and heartbreaking Holocaust movies, while snowboarders clearly like re-visiting Ace Ventura Pet Detective. A lot.
So, if we were to put the profiles together – skiers are mainly right-wing Scottish women in their twenties who like knitting, Louis Vuitton, watching the Clangers and listening to Eric Prydz.
Snowboarders meanwhile are twenty-something Scottish men with a lot of disposable income who enjoy eating sausage rolls and dressing up in sexy women’s lingerie.
