Stunning GoPro Footage Shows Meteor Going Down over Bangkok

It's the end of the world as we know it... maybe

So, you’re out for a drive and you’ve stuck a GoPro on your dashboard. How exciting. You might catch someone dropping an ice cream cone, you might catch a skateboarder face planting, or you might even hit the jackpot and catch a viral video of a cyclist arguing with a driver. If you’re lucky.

Or, on another end of the spectrum, you might catch a freakin’ meteor falling to Earth. Yeah, that happened to someone – or actually, quite a few people – in Bangkok, Thailand on 7 September.

The meteor entered the atmosphere of the Earth just before 9am, which meant the meteor was travelling at rush hour, so there were plenty of GoPros on show to capture the thing.

Locals of the Sisawat district in Kanchanaburi also reported sightings of the meteor, which suggests the thing was freakin’ huge.

According to an incredibly vague ‘expert’ interviewed on local radio at the time, though, things like this actually happen quite often. No need to worry then, if he is to be believed…

The meteor didn’t make a notable impact or even an audible sound when it hit the ground. Needless to say though, if we see one of these bad boys heading down on Britain anytime soon, we’re still going to panic. Grab a crate of beer and come join us.
