This has got to be the strangest catch ever from an ice fishing session.

Nicholas Colangelo and friends went out ice-fishing in Pennsylvania, no doubt hoping to net themselves another monster like the Musky the fisherman pulled from the water just a few weeks back.

Instead, they found themselves pulling in possibly the weirdest catch ever – a very bedraggled-looking Merganser duck.

As various people pointed out in the comments under the video, it was also probably the luckiest catch ever – for the duck at least.

While the Merganser is capable of diving for brief periods, it’s incredible that it was still alive under the ice – especially given Mergansers usually migrate southwards to rivers that are ice free.
