In the 1980’s, freestyle skateboarding was not a cool thing to do but as skateboarding progressed, freestyle tricks became pivotal to the advancement of skateboarding. Yet the freestyle skaters who pioneered the discipline didn’t just innovate skateboarding tricks, they eventually took over the sport. 
These talented freestyle skaters eventually owned a large chunk of skateboarding because they shaped it into what they wanted it to be.
