In government enforced lockdown you’ve got to take the wins where you can find them. Tony Hawk’s latest big announcement on social media is, well, it’s such a big win that all other big social media announcements should postpone themselves for between 36 and 72 hours minimum. If you need us, we’ll be staring at the calendar and counting up how many days it is until the 4th of September 2020. That’s when the remastered versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are set to be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Are we stoked? Err… just a bit.
Whatever your level of enthusiasm for skateboarding is nowadays, there’s no denying that these two games (released in 1999 and 2000 respectively) were a seminal part of numerous misspent youths.
Two of the biggest selling Playstation games ever, the pair went on to sell a combined total of 6.7 million copies. The banging soundtrack, the late-night ‘H-O-R-S-E’ multiplayers, the hidden secrets on every single level, the fact this game allowed you to pull out otherworldly tricks when in reality you were still chinning kerbs every second ollie attempt; there was so much to love about these games.
And… they’re back; back in our lives, with shiny new graphics and everything.
Tony himself made the announcement in classic, ice cool, Birdman style.
“Happy birthday to me! #THPS” he wrote, alongside a ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2’ image with that September release date sat teasingly at the bottom.
Needless to say, the internet immediately lost its mind with the social media post getting inundated with an avalanche of comments from responding fans who were clearly buzzing their absolute faces off.

The remastered games will feature the original maps, the original skaters, and songs from the original soundtrack. It promises to be a lovely trip down memory lane, and we genuinely can’t wait to get our hands on it.
Smell that? It’s nostalgia. The sweet, sweet, smell of nostalgia. God bless you Tony Hawk.
