MORE INFO

This is the new Vertic Three Layer Men’s Jacket and Pants from Scott. It’s got all the right features and fabrics to see you right no matter where on the mountain you manage to find yourself. We’re also glad to report that this also isn’t at the cost of the planet, with Scott taking some impressive measures to mitigate their impact on the earth.

It’s Scott’s aim to have a sustainable outlook on everything they do and – most importantly – everything they produce. This was clear to see when we checked out their almost fully recycled Superguide LT ski at the trade shows earlier this year, but it’s great to see this attitude filter down into their outerwear range too.

But what does this all mean in real terms? Well, Scott is committed to using recycled fabrics in their Re-Source range. In this case, the Vertic 3L ski jacket and pants are made from 100% recycled polyester while also not using any of those nasty PFC’s that cause damage to local ecosystems. This goes far and beyond many other brands’ commitments, so props to Scott for achieving this.

Scott Vertic 3L Build

Speaking of fabrics, the Vertic 3L jacket and pants are made from Scott’s in-house DRY-O-sphere fabrics to provide a waterproof and breathable barrier from the elements. Scott claims that the waterproof rating of this fabric is 15,000mm with a breathability rating of 10,000. That’s not award-winning numbers, but it’s certainly enough to keep you well protected in all but the worst conditions (see also the most sweat-inducing ascents).

Scott Vertic 3L Features

The Vertic Jacket and Pant setup is a seriously well stacked outerwear setup on the features front. Firstly, you’ve got all the standard stuff you’d expect to find on a freeride outerwear combo including a powder skirt, lift pass pocket, and goggle wipe cloth. Inbuilt cuffs are rarely seen on ski jackets, but we really came to appreciate the ones found on this jacket; particularly when it was blowing a gale, or when we were skiing on powder.

The jacket has also been designed to remain comfortable while you’re wearing it on short ski tours. This is largely thanks to the ability to dump heat with the underarm venting and articulated sleeves that move with you during your stride.

The pants are equally kitted out too, with a handy bib and suspenders that are detachable if you’d rather ride without them. You’ve then got a thigh pocket and some tough cordura panels on the ankle to protect the pants from any ski edge or boot crampon scuffs.

Who Is The Scott Vertic 3L For?

Our test team has been left really impressed by the Vertic 3L jacket and pants. Their waterproof rating of 15,000 is more than enough to survive all but the worst conditions up in the mountains. 10,000 breathability rating, meanwhile, means you’ve got a comfortable companion when you’re on those ski touring missions. All of this, while not costing the planet. Both the jacket and pants are available in men’s and women’s options.

What Is The Scott Vertic 3L Good At?

Waterproofing: 8/10
Breathability: 8/10
Eco-conscience: 9/10
