People who make it to 82, most of them are satisfied if their joints don’t hurt too much and their bladders work to an acceptable standard. The majority of them aren’t thinking about hurling themselves from a moving aeroplane and skydiving back to earth. Dilys, however, isn’t your average 82 year old (she holds the record for being the oldest female skydiver in the world).
Second in a series of three short films by James Callum and Alex Knowles, in partnership with Prime & Fire Selects, Talenthouse and BFI Future Film,The 82 Year Old Skydiver looks at this remarkable woman and what drives her to do what she does.
Skydiving, which she describes as “better than having sex,” has given Dilys the confidence to start up her own charity and share the uplifting energy with others. She goes through moments of fear in the build-up to a jump but believes the “ecstasy is far more than the fear.”
Prime & Fire Selects, in association with Factory Media, is an annual film competition giving up-and-coming filmmakers the funds and support to create short human-interest documentaries within the realms of action sports.
