burn’s Epic Inaugural King of the North Contest

At the end of March the biggest and best in the snowboarding game will touch down in Trysil, Norway to discover who is the true King of the North. Sven Thorgren, Ståle Sandbech and some of best Scandi riders out there will welcome the world’s riders to their backyard for a rail jam and big air contest for the ages thanks to the guys at burn. As an official media partner MPORA will be bringing you all the action from an epic two days of shredding.

A Tournament for the Brave, by the Brave!

Some of the top riders in the Nordic will each invite 2 riders who will draw boards against the toughest in the sport. In addition, a number of wild cards will be handed out to some of the fiercest competitors in and outside Scandinavia, who will have their shot at glory.
The competition will feature a metal blazing Rail Jam contest and a massive Big Air on March 21st-22nd 2014 in Trysil, Norway.

In an effort to let the judging reflect the diversity of the sport, the counsel of judges will be composed of different personalities from the snow scene, ranging from photographers to pro-riders and journalists.

Olympic Revenge?

Ståle Sandbech and Sven Thorgren are both confirmed and eager to show what they’ ́ve got on their home turf. burn King of the North will be the battleground for a fierce rematch! However, other contenders will travel north – maybe a Canadian young buck or a fearless Finnish champion could steal the icy crown and glory from the brave Norsemen?

Nordic Traditions with a Universal Message

Martin Österberg, Brand Manager Nordic, explains the contest: “The aim of burn King of the North is to create a Nordic competition that gives back the power to the riders. Ultimately, it’s the riders who are progressing the sport, and it seems only natural that this approach reflects the competition.”

Each night will see a massive celebration of the battles, as the brave contestants are celebrated. And although the prize money accounts for a total of €15.500 – #BKOTN is, above all, about the fun and social part of snowboarding.

In the end, a new king will rise from the icy ashes of the battleground and be crowned burn King of the North.
