Leila Hurst grew up in Hawaii only needing two things: “it was really simple, a bikini and a surfboard – every day.. and the beach.” She grew up outside the Hawaiian hub of Oahu, in the more mellow Kahului amongst some of the biggest names in surfing; Bruce and Andy Irons and Keala Kennelly to name a few.

Even though she’s now killing it around the globe on the Vans team (where she’s the only woman) she still tries to stay in touch with the values of her relaxed upbringing. This makes her one of the most down to earth girls on tour.
