If you spend enough time outdoors – surfing, mountain biking, snowboarding – the chances are you wear sunscreen. But it turns out there’s some bad news, guys…

While sunscreen is proven to lower your risk of getting skin cancer, unfortunately there are signs that it’s not good for male fertility.

Studies conducted by the University of Copenhagen show the chemicals used in sunscreen to absorb UV rays can make sperm function poorly.

Sunscreen is commonly absorbed into the blood stream through the skin – and travels to the testes. They found evidence of the UV ray filters in urine so it suggests it travels quite far.

Take note though, this has only been tested in labs – so more research needs to be undertaken yet to prove anything concrete.

So stop sweating and don’t start throwing away the sunscreen bottles just yet! UV rays cause skin cancer, that has been proven, so get slathered up, people.
