Firstly, get yourself a surf mentor, then get on the “Accelerated Learning Programme”.

It’s a programme I was put on by my teacher, it allows you to skip months, even years, of trial and error.

If you are lucky enough to have a eligible mentor, bribe them with whatever you can to get on the programme.

Having someone tell you to stop dragging your legs when you paddle or move up on your board and pop with your hands on top of the board not gripping the rails will expedite the learning process and get you to a point where the rest is really just being in the water and practicing.
