In some of the weirdest news of the week, The Bank Of England has admitted today that five pounds notes are in fact not suitable for vegetarians or vegans, as each note contains a certain amount of animal fat and waste products.
The bank’s twitter account posted a statement in a tweet that says “We can confirm that the polymer pellet from which the base substrate is made contains a trace of a substance known as tallow.”
Tallow is an animal waste product, taken from animals used for other industries. As you can imagine… Vegetarians are not happy .
