Leica M Typ 240 Mirrorless Travel Camera
For a certain type of photographer, cameras don’t get any better than those made by German company Leica.
The company’s heritage stretches back to the early 20th century and the early Leicas were actually designed specifically to be travel cameras – they were built small so that mountaineers could carry them on their travels.
The latest in that long line of easily carried cameras is the Leica M, a mirrorless model that is unusual in having a full frame sensor – giving it unrivalled image quality.
This, combined with Leica’s famously crisp lenses, means that the M will create better quality shots than any other camera on this list, including the entry-level DSLRs.
Of course this kind of quality doesn’t come cheap but if you’ve got a spare £5,000 lying around, this is pretty much the ultimate travel camera.
Price: £5,000
Good for: Unrivalled image quality, versatility (thanks to the wide range of lenses).
Not so good for: Anyone on a budget. Five grand ain’t cheap!
