British Olympic Windsurfer Explores the West Coast of Ireland

Bryony Shaw getting back to basics in the Emerald Isle

Bryony Shaw is all about discovering new spots and locations at which she can show off the skills that won her a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics. When you think of Irish beaches it’s more an image of survival and savage weather that comes to mind rather than the perfect conditions on show here.

Shaw’s trip out to Ireland allows her to escape from her usual hustle and bustle of training – she’s already looking ahead to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Here, alone on the Atlantic coast she’s able to get back to the serenity and sensual experiences that are at the core of windsurfing; as well as killing it in some picturesque conditions.

Bryony’s story is part of a series of films made by our friends at Prime and Fire, following the adventures of action sports heroes as they explore Britain and Ireland. First up was Steve Peat putting his downhill skills to the test in the Scottish Highlands, followed by World Champion kite surfers Steph and Olly Bridge making the most of the elements in the Isle of Lewis.
