Making waves on the freeride scene and stomping victories on the Freeride World Tour, Head’s Kore series fast became one of the ultimate freeride set-ups. After three years of Kore success, Head are launching a women’s specific Kore boot – the Kore 2 W.

The Kore 2 W adopts the same construction as the original Kore 2 and, other than a lower flex rating, the two boots are almost identical. Whether you opt for the Kore 2 or 2 W, we are excited that all skiers can now kit themselves out in head to toe Kore for a hard to beat freeride touring set up.

Head KORE 2 W Build

Head Kore’s unique graphene infused plastic shell endows the Kore 2 W with high responsiveness for its low weight, and Head’s 90% aluminium buckles shave off extra grams.

This minimal weight (just over 1.5kg per boot) encourages bolt-like ascents. The Head Kore, therefore, really stands out as a hybrid freeride and touring boot.

A ski-hike mechanism located on the boot’s spine integrates the cuff and shell and enables a 45-degree range of motion in walk mode. A buckle lock holds the cuff buckles in position so you can climb in comfort and prepare your boots for descent in seconds, and a 45mm velcro strap provides downhill support.

Dynafit inserts and an optional GripWalk sole make the Kore 2 W compatible with a range of bindings to create your ideal freeride touring setup.

The main difference between the Kore 2 and 2 W is the flex pattern, the Kore 2 operating at a 120 flex and the Kore 2 W at a 110. It is worth noting that the Kore’s flex feels softer than it sounds, potentially due to its thin shell material and minimal weight. Whilst a 110 flex should suit the majority of lighter weight advanced skiers, heavier skiers, experts, and hard chargers might consider going up a flex rating. Worth saying the Kore 2 120 and Kore 1 130 do not offer women’s equivalents in the same flex. This though shouldn’t make too much of a difference, unless you value a slightly shorter and wider cuff.
