The Salomon QST Blank is an all-new ski for the 21/22 winter season; and it’s a ski that’s got a pretty interesting story behind it. Replacing the QST 118, the new QST Blank has been designed purely from the input of the Salomon athlete team.
And when you consider what a diverse lineup of athletes the crew at Annecy are boasting – we’re talking Cody Townsend, Chris Rubens and Leah Evans, to name just a few – you’ll quickly realise that these Blanks are going to be an extremely versatile pair of planks.
“They gave every athlete a ‘blank’ slate and said they could design a ski exactly how they wanted it”
Sitting top of Salomon’s QST range, the QST Blank is a ski that Salomon athlete Alexi Godbout claims to “combine the playfulness of the 106 and performance of the 118, but at a 112mm waist.” The QST range from Salomon now features a QST 92, 98, 106 and this, 112 mm waisted Blank. For the women you’ve got the Lux, Lumen, Stella – and the Blank, of course.
Getting back to that initial concept of the QST Blank. Salomon claimed that they gave every athlete a ‘blank’ slate and said they could design a ski exactly how they wanted it. This resulted in a ski that boasts the playfulness of Alexi Godbout; the (lack of) speed limit Stan Rey was after; all while Nico Vuignier and Ugo Troubat made sure liveliness and agility weren’t left out.
