Lizzie Armitstead claimed the rainbow jersey at the women’s 2015 World Championships in Richmond, USA on Saturday, and what’s more, she did it with style.

The reigning Commonwealth champ and Olympic silver-medallist claimed her first World Championship win after coming from a minute behind with 15km to go to take the victory.

If you thought that final 15km comeback was sensational though, wait until you see the video below, which shows Armitstead bunny-hopping a rogue waterbottle from the middle of the peloton. If it wasn’t for her skills, it could’ve been an early end for Lizzie.

The whole thing happened pretty quickly, but watch a couple of times and you’ll see Armitstead in the middle of the peloton hopping over the runaway bottle.

Needless to say, the British star was more than happy with her efforts, joking: “I think I’m more proud of that than of the title!

“It wasn’t a great bunny hop. It might have looked liked it from the aerial, but I only got one wheel off the ground.”

A fine effort from Lizzie on a weekend which would see Peter Sagan go on to claim his first World Championship win the following day.

It caps off a fine season for Armistead herself, who also successfully defended her 2014 UCI World Cup overall win through the 2015 season. By this point the trophy cabinet must be getting pretty full.
