Police in Ipswich, UK have issued a warning to all cyclists in the region following a number of booby traps being discovered on several popular cycle routes.
Wire has been stretched across the paths at head height, seemingly intended to catch cyclists in the neck, ripping them from their bikes, or worse.
The first trap was discovered on Sunday evening, with two more being found later in the week.
The local constabulary are investigating the traps, and Officer Simon Mortimer has said “This is an extremely dangerous and irresponsible thing to do, stretching wire across the paths at head height could cause serious injury to cyclists and pedestrians.”
He added “We are appealing for anyone who has information about this mindless act to contact us to prevent further incidents and someone being injured.”
If you can help, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
