In a few days’ time Vans, arguably the world’s biggest, oldest and best-known skate brand, will host its flagship European competition, the Spring Classic, in Naples.
The Italian city might be best known as the birthplace of the pizza and the home of the world’s worst drivers (trust, Mpora’s been there, and there is not a single car that doesn’t have a scratch or a busted headlight) but it’s also got a thriving skate scene.
Watch the Vans Spring Classic Live Here
With a ton of paved palazzos and good weather most of the year round, the city is blessed with its fair share of street spots. But as is customary for the Spring Classic, Vans are building an special arena specially for the occasion. Check out last year’s course here.
For the past few years the event has been held down by the seafront in Varezze in northern Italy. But this year’s location promises to go one better.
The mini-ramp, which we’ve been told will be bigger and better than previous years, is being set up just down the promenade from one of the city’s iconic port-side fortresses, the Castell dell’Ovo (the castle of the erm… egg).
Last year’s event attracted many of the cream of European’s skate scene, including the Vans team, and we’re fully expecting this year will top it. And with the weather expected to be bright and sunny all weekend, we’re anticipating one hell of a show.
We’ll be streaming the whole thing LIVE right here on Mpora, and it’ll be on our Facebook page too, so you can catch all the action.
And let’s face it, given it’s going to be pissing it down across a lot of the UK this weekend, watching the Vans Spring Classic is probably not a bad way to pass the time.
Check the poster for the times of the events below, and enjoy!
