New on the scene in 2018, the Bent Chetler 100 solved a problem plaguing Bent Chetler 120 fans everywhere: what to do with a pair of 120s when there’s no fresh snow in sight?

Enter the Bent Chetler 100, and now a Bent Chetler exists for pretty much every kind of terrain.

Featuring different shaping, but similarly exciting build and technology, the Bent Chetler 100 provides a ride for more typical days on the mountain, whilst preserving the same playful energy that first set apart the original Bent Chetler. Much to our delight, the Bent Chetler 120’s characteristic base graphics now feature on the Bent Chetler 100.

Atomic Bent Chetler 100 Build

Similar in build to its bigger sibling, the Bent Chetler 100 is also moulded from poplar – a popular ski construction choice due to its low weight and high strength ratio.

The Bent Chetler 100 matches the 120’s Dura Cap sidewalls, providing coverage from base to topsheet for added robustness and durability. This protection stands you in good stead whether you’re grinding rails in the park or hopping rocks in the backcountry.

Full coverage sidewall throughout the entire ski comes in handy on firm days and icy mornings when you need that extra grip from a wider all-mountain ski.

Atomic Bent Chetler 100 Shaping

The Bent Chetler 100 adapts the best aspects of the 120’s shaping to create a far more versatile ski. Atomic carry over their signature tip and tail horizontal rocker into the Bent Chetler 100.

This ‘HRZN tech’ – imagine the hull of a boat – increases the skis surface area by 10% for deep snow surfability. Adding to this effect, the Bent Chetler features a 20% tip rocker. While the Bent Chetler 120’s 30% tip rocker is mirrored in the tail, the Bent Chetler 100 is more reserved. A 10% tail rocker enables more edge to snow contact and 70% camber throughout the ski.

“The nose rocker and soft tips will have you buttering about the entire mountain”

The Bent Chetler 100’s flex pattern echoes this directional rocker: stiff underfoot, slightly softer in the tail, and pretty soft up front. This creates a hybrid of awesome float and manoeuvrability in the tip, precision and grip throughout the ski, and stability in the back.

Twin tip shaping, another inheritance from the 120 model, ensures that the Bent Chetler 100 remains as playful as the original. In fact, the slimmer waist and stiffer flex creates a pretty ideal park ski, whilst the nose rocker and soft tips will have you buttering about the entire mountain.

Who Is The Atomic Bent Chetler 100 For?

The Bent Chetler 100 is for anyone who wants to ride the 120 but isn’t banking on a season of powder. Similar in width to the Salomon QST 99, the ski isn’t so wide that you require Japan levels of powder to ride, nor narrow enough to hold you back when the goods do arrive.

Whilst a 100mm waist makes the Bent Chetler 100 easier to manoeuvre than the 120, it is also considerably stiffer ski with a pretty unequal flex to guarantee performance in firmer conditions. As a result, we think the Bent Chetler is best suited to advanced skiers and beyond.

“Different beast, same animal”

If you’re an advanced skier looking to combine freestyle and freeride, this is a perfect one ski quiver. The directional rocker and flex transform the Bent Chetler 100 into a far more versatile ski than the 120.

The Bent Chetler 100 cuts an edge on icy mornings as well as it glides over backcountry booters and park kickers. It’s even light and stable enough to add on a touring binding for backcountry missions.

The specificity of the Bent Chetler 120 make it an exceptional ski for the elusive powder day, but the Bent Chetler’s versatility creates a more well-rounded ski for every day. Different beast, same animal.
