When you’re watching a ski edit, the steeze with which skiers nail their tricks can make you believe, incorrectly, that the athletes rocked up, landed their bits first time and then proceeded immediately to the nearest bar to bask in the adulation before getting fully, and I mean fully, on it.
Nothing, however, can be further from the truth. There’s a lot of work that goes into these edits and a lot of bruises picked up along the way. All of the world’s best success stories are built upon the lessons learned from failure. This is especially true in the world of skiing, snowboarding, and action sports.
‘The Collective’, if you haven’t seen it, is a properly excellent ski film from Faction Skis. Be sure to make the most of your lockdown time by seeking it out and giving it a watch.
This epic, behind the scenes, crash edit shows just what went into putting ‘The Collective’ together and the extent to which your favourite skiers put their bodies on their line to progress the sport they love. It will give you a newfound appreciation for the process, a heightened level of respect for the athletes, and also… well… come on… it’s also a bit of slapstick and, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a bit of slapstick?
