Anastasia Ashley may look familiar. She recently stole the show in this years Sport Illustrated swimsuit edition and an Mpora branch of her fan club started up recently (for an application form see here). She was already something of an internet celebrity due to her famous warm up techniques but is now one of the biggest names in women’s surfing.

Ashley started young. Her family moved to Hawaii when she was only five and she began surfing shortly after, before entering her first competition aged seven. Growing up she was often the only girl in the line up but she’s consistently proved that talent doesn’t have a gender.

Anastasia is also fiercely principled – she’s one of PETA’s most prominent spokespeople and a committed vegan.
