Panasonic Lumix TZ70 Compact Travel Camera Review
Panasonic describe the Lumix TZ70 as “the quintessential travel camera”, able to shoot everything “from architectural patterns to subtle colour gradations… under any light conditions.”
The tech spec here is certainly impressive. The lens, made by Leica, offers a 30x optical zoom, making it the equivalent of a 24-720mm lens on a 35mm camera. That’s huge – more than enough to shoot even small animals from the safety of your car if you’re on safari for example. Like most compacts, this also shoots full HD video.
It weighs the same as the Canon S120, coming in at 217g with battery and memory card inserted. The ISO only goes up to 6400 and the widest aperture is f/3.3 so it’s not quite as good in low light and it’s a bit more expensive too.
But the sheer versatility of that focal lengths that lens offers makes this hard to beat as an all-round travel camera.
Price: £280
Good for: Shooting wildlife and far off action on the cheap.
Not so good for: Shooting in low light.
