Canon Powershot G7 Advanced Compact Travel Camera Review
The G7 is “an expert’s pocket camera” according to Canon. It’s a step up from its cousin the S120 in terms of spec, featuring a 1 inch sensor which creates better quality images.
While the zoom on the lens is just 4.2x (so the equivalent of a 24-100mm zoom) the aperture is f/1.8 – 2.8. This means it’s not only great in low light but you can also easily recreate the kind of ‘background blur’ that professional photographers achieve with DSLRs.
It features a range of automatic shooting modes designed for everything from close-ups to night time shots of the stars and has great image stabilisation feature.
The tilting touch screen makes shooting from low angles easy, and means you can selfie away to your heart’s content (if you’re into that sort of thing). It also shoots full HD video.
Price: £400
Good for: Portraits and capturing beautifully crisp images in low light.
Not so good for: Long distance shots such as wildlife or stadium sporting events.
