8. Iguazau Falls, Brazil/Argentina
Situated on the border of the Argentinian province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Parana, the Iguazu Falls are made up of a series of waterfalls, which divide the higher and lower sections of the Iguazu River.
Legends in the area claim that a deity planned to marry a beautiful woman named Naipi here, but she fled instead to escape with her mortal lover Taroba in a canoe. Of course, the deity was absolutely raging as a result, so he cut the river in two, creating the waterfalls and sending the lovers into an eternal fall. He’s clearly not the best when it comes to losing.
