Suffering from depression, PTSD, and anxiety; rape survivor Heidi Williams was able to find peace through the practicing of yoga. Williams, who nearly lost her six-month old child and has previously attempted to commit suicide, found that yoga had a hugely positive impact on her wellbeing. The restorative and life-saving effect it’s had on her has inspired Williams to spread the word.
“It was in this place of mental illness hell that I found yoga and grace. Yoga brought me to a safe place again. A place of peace and self-acceptance,” Williams said in a piece published on Mantra Yoga + Health
Since recovering, Williams has taken it upon herself to run online support groups that push the idea of human connectivity. She’s also big into sharing her inspirational message on social media, especially through Instagram where she now has over 53,000 followers.
