Marker’s Royal Family of freeride and freestyle bindings underwent redevelopment for this season. Just like its more senior family members, the Marker Griffon 13 ID has been shaken up for the better.

This year’s Griffon 13 ID is light, sturdy, and – with the addition of GripWalk compatibility – more versatile. Plus, taking a leaf out of Look and Tyrolia’s book, the Griffon 13 ID returns this year with a far jazzier teal and yellow option.

The updated Griffon 13 ID features new royal colours, but the same family tradition and prowess that has the Marker Royal Family bindings topping just about every freeski podium.

The updated Griffon 13 ID retains its wide toe piece platform, ideal for withstanding high-impacts and enhanced power transmission and edge control on wider, freestyle and freeride oriented skis. The no-pull-out screws and centralised swing weight make it a tackle-proof binding ideal for spinning, flipping, and jumping.

The moveable anti-friction device, fitted in line with the skier type, enables precise releases that won’t be compromised by ice, dirt, or whatever else is lurking on your boot sole.

The 2020 / 21 Griffon model boasts a third-generation triple pivot elite toe piece. A horizontal toe spring and 5-degree inclined sole plate work together to deliver Marker’s highest energy absorption, with the goal of reducing early releases. That sound you just heard? Marker’s sting-like heel piece, recognisable from a mile off, returns in its third-generation form, delivering great energy absorption thanks to its vertical spring.

The most exciting update for the Marker Griffon is the inclusion of GripWalk compatibility via the height adjustable gliding plate. Whilst the Griffon 13 ID already accommodated standard alpine soles and touring soles, adding GripWalk to the mix increases the binding’s practicality and shelf-life considering the increasing popularity of GripWalk boots.

As a final touch, Marker include an anti-ice rail, situated on top of the toe piece, so you can kick away any boot-sole snow before clicking in for an extra secure ride. Marker manage to pack all of this into a binding that weighs just over 1kg.
