Recently we published an article detailing the craziest run ins between man and shark. If we’d waited a bit longer than this guy would’ve gone straight in at number 1!
Our hero, a diver by the name of Jason Dmitri, is minding his own business out in the beautiful Cayman Islands, spearing a Lion Fish with an oversized fondue fork when he’s set upon by a Carribean Reef Shark. What follows is three minute duel that will induce stress and clammy hands in everyone who watches it. God knows what it was like first hand..
Dmitri does a pretty excellent job in defending himself with his aforementioned fondue fork while keeping his shit together like a man who’s prodded sharks in the nose before. The Reef Shark is usually shy around humans, treating them with caution. However, it’s speculated that the shark took interest in the diver’s prey and became aggressive.
Jason Dmitri, who says he was culling the Lionfish in order to prevent damage to the reef, hasn’t been perturbed by his run with the Reef Shark, which can grow up to 10ft. “The shark was acting in his natural environment. I have no ill will toward him and will get back in the water and continue to protect the reef for future generations,” he said.
