You know what they say about the surfers at Manly Beach?

THEY’RE MANLY!
When faced with a potentially gruesome death, via the mouth of a shark, the surfers at Manly Beach don’t squeal like six-year old girls that have just lost their Elsa dolls; they keep their cool. Sure their breathing might become slightly irregular but, by and large, they stay calm and measured.
“…the surfers at Manly Beach don’t squeal like six-year old girls that have just lost their Elsa dolls…”
This Manly Beach surfer, for example, channeled a primal force of testosterone-fuelled manliness and avoided becoming a shark’s lunch. The shark in this video doesn’t come looking for a fight, because it knows it’s in the presence of some intense macho-dude who could punch its lights out with one gentle swish of the thumb.
The surfer, in this remarkable footage, handles his moment with the ocean’s most feared predator like an absolute boss. It would have been easy, in this situation, for the man to cry out in panic and flail his arms about. But, much to his credit, he stays as chilled as a beer fridge that’s just been plugged into the outer wall of an igloo.
Great white shark sightings are fairly common around the Northern Beaches of Sydney. That being said, there hasn’t been a fatal shark attack in the area since 1936. If surfers continue to keep their wits about them like the dude in this video does, then there’s a much greater chance of that run continuing.
